Short History.

The Indian Province of Congregation of the Mission purchased a plot of land in 1993, with a small house in the village of Pachani in the Archdiocese of Thalassery with the purpose of recruiting candidates for the Congregation from Malabar side, and also to fetch some income for the province. The Confreres in the house render pastoral assistance in the near by parishes. The first novitiate of the southern Indian province was started at Pachani and Rev. Fr. Jacob Kakkanat was appointed the first Novice master. Later on when the province found a better place in Thambram, where a greater number can be accommodated the novitiate was shifted to Dharcast. At present the house functions as an apostolic school. We have about 15 boys from poor families. They are helped to do their schooling.

The province also took up a Syrian parish, Pachani, in the diocese in the diocese of Thalassery, and the parish priest also stays in this house.

Pachani is about 45kms from Kannur.
