A short history
In 1988, Fr. John Pottankuzhiyil C.M. staying in a rented house at Sompeta started the mission at Kanchili. As soon as the land was purchased a residential building was constructed for the stay of the Fathers. In the same building a small hall was kept apart for the Sunday Mass and other religious activities. The presbytery, Vincentian Nivas, was officially blessed and opened in 1992 by Most Rev. K. Mariadas, Bishop of Visakhapatanam. kachili was raised to the status of a parish and Fr. John Pottankuzhiyil C.M. was appointed the first Parish Priest. It was the long cherished desire of the faithful to have a church in the locality. The foundation stone for the new church was laid on the 21st May 2005 by Rev. Fr. Jose Aikara, C.M. the newly constructed church was blessed and inaugurated on the 14th of December, 2005. Most rev. A. Innaya, Bishop of Srikakulam blessed the church and Rev. Fr. Jose Aikara, C.M., inaugurated the new church.
The mission also has a small hostel in the campus with a few tribal students and is looking to enlarge it with more inmates and better facilities.
