A short history:
The Indian province felt the need of having a separate Minor
seminary in the late 1980s as the Minor Seminary at Baripada
could not accommodate all the recruits. With this intention
one hector of land was acquired in Bogadi village in the
southern part of Mysore city, in 1988. But the water source
was insufficient for an institution. Meanwhile a vast plot
of land was purchased in Belawadi village in the northern
side of Mysore, in order to develop a farm for the
Congregation. Since there was enough water resources and a
large area, it was decided to build the seminary there and
the construction began in 1990. Students recruited in 1991
were accommodated in the farmhouse. The seminary
construction was completed and His Excellency rt. Rev. Dr,
Francis Michaelappa, the Bishop of Mysore, blessed it on
27th September 1992. in 1993 De Paul Seminary was erected a
Canonical House and Fr. Michael Kuzhikattuchalil was
appointed the first Superior.
Belwadi is about 8kms from the Mysore railway station.
