With the intention of forming the students in India itself,
in the year 1961 five Vincentian students namely Michael
Kuzhikattuchalil, Joseph Pudussery, Varghese Purackal,
George Kuruttukunnel and Thomas Kottaram were sent to St.
Joseph’s Pontifical Seminary, Alwaye, with Fr. Gerardo Conde,
as the Father in-charge. They stayed with the Vincentian
Fathers (V.C) in their Study House, at Alwaye. St. Vincent’s
Mission House was built in 1962 in the land given by the
Archdiocese of Verapoly. The Catholic cemetery was existing
there even at that time with a chapel of the Parish of
Thottakattukara. This Chapel became the Chapel of the New
Study House, and liturgical services began to be conducted
there regularly for the people of the locality. In course of
time, in 1996, the Chapel was modified, to accommodate the
people who were coming in large numbers to attend the
liturgical services.
Today the house accommodates about 14 brothers and 3
priests. Our brothers go to St. Joseph’s Pontifical
Seminary, Carmelagiri seminary for their theological
studies.
St. Vincent’s Mission House is about 5kms from Alwaye
Railway station on the way to North Paravur.
